Nardugan (Turkic Solstice / Birth of the New Sun)

The Turkic winter solstice celebration whose name means ‘Sun-Born.’ On the longest night, the old sun dies and is reborn. Revelers go door to door in animal costumes singing blessings, and families decorate white pine trees with red ribbons carrying wishes to sky god Ülgen.
