Rite of the Apkallu (Seven Sages Before the Flood)

The Apkallu were seven sages sent by Enki before the Great Flood to teach humanity the arts of civilization: writing, agriculture, astronomy, medicine, law, and temple-building. They were depicted as fish-cloaked figures or eagle-headed beings. After the Flood, no more Apkallu came. The Book of Enoch’s Watchers closely parallel the Apkallu tradition, but with the gifts reframed as sins.
