Raising of the Djed Pillar

On the last day of Khoiak (day 30), the pharaoh and priests ceremonially raised a wooden djed pillar using ropes, symbolizing the backbone of Osiris and his triumph over death. The ritual was performed at Busiris (Djedu) in the Delta and later at Memphis. It marked the conclusion of the Khoiak mysteries and the symbolic resurrection of Osiris.
