The third and most powerful ysbrydnos (spirit night) of the Welsh year. The Hwch Ddu Gwta, a terrifying tailless black sow, chased the last person fleeing the hilltop bonfire. Each villager placed a marked stone in the coelcerth bonfire; anyone whose stone could not be found the next morning would die within the year.
